Hello, I am Frodo Cavalier, a ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Editor of The Barking Bugle, a Norfolk-based online newspaper written by dogs for dogs. I thought I would tell you what life is like for me in the busy and exciting world of K9 journalism.

frodo-morning

My day starts with breakfast, usually served in the King Size bed I sleep in which I allow my pawrents to share.

Once digested it’s time for my morning constitution, a good run on the beach with my brothers to set me up for the day.  The rest of the morning is usually my busiest part of the day.  First of all I check through our social media accounts to reply to any comments and see if any news has come through for me to share.

I then check my email account for news stories from the rest of the team which has 11 canine repawters of varying breeds, ages and sizes.  I often receive repawters from Guest Barkers for the paper as well, which need to be checked for accuracy and content.  I also get lots of correspondence asking my opinion on the best doggy places to visit in Norfolk and always try to help out if I can.

frodo-interview-the-one-showAfter this I’ll edit any repawts sent in or I’ll organise interviews, research and write future blogs or do a write up for our monthly column in the local printed newspaper.

On other days I may be out and about repawting from anything from a local Fun Dog Show, to Crufts, Dog Fest and Pup Aid.

Armed with my World Dog press pass I get access to the Press Offices, where I can find the latest news and have a nap!  To get around at functions my Paws Assistant has cleverly adapted my doggy stroller, to have on board snacks, water and even a sun shade if it’s hot.

frodo-ssBeing the editor of The Barking Bugle newspaper is great fun. I’ve made loads of celebrity pals from pop stars to royalty.  I’ve even had a pat from Prince Charles, although he was a bit intimidated by me, what with me being a King Charles and him only a Prince!

I’ve even been interviewed myself for my opinion on ‘dog poo’ for the One Show, spreading the word about dog friendly places for Norfolk Radio, and I’ve appeared on BBC Breakfast TV and Sky News!

I’m getting a little older now so next year I won’t be attending too many events which involve travelling long distances but one of the team will be there representing the Barking Bugle. I will be at The National Pet Show in Birmingham this November so if you see me do say hello!
